Thank you for viewing our website. We hope you find it useful and informative.
I am delighted to be the new Headteacher of La Moye School. La Moye School is a high performing, inclusive school and is the Parish school for St. Brelade. We have wonderful, friendly and motivated children, a dedicated and hard-working staff team, a committed P.T.A, supportive parents, and excellent facilities- including a great outdoor environment. We pride ourselves on ensuring children and learning are at the centre of all that we do.
We are currently working to redefine our shared core values so that children, staff and parents share in an ethos and vision for our school that will guide our development. Once we have defined them, these values will start to form the cornerstone on what we are about and describe what we do. These will be shared with the whole community in the very near future once our consultation period has been completed.
La Moye is a two-form entry school with a nursery class. We take children from 3 years to 11 years. We serve a large catchment area to the North and West of St. Brelade, roughly bordered by the main road through Red Houses to the South, and the airport in the North. We are the largest school in the West of Jersey, and as such often take children from outside this catchment area.
At present we have about 390 children on roll in fifteen classes from Nursery to Year 6. We are an inclusive school and have a comprehensive intake. We work hard to get to know and support the needs of every child, working in close partnership with their families, and where necessary, other agencies.
We aim to ensure that La Moye School is a safe, secure and stimulating setting in order to promote learning. The school is set in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of space for the children to play and many opportunities for learning outdoors. There are hard and grass play areas, a small adventure playground and a woodland area, as well as a school field. We believe learning outdoors offers many fantastic opportunities and try to make the best use of our entire grounds, local area and Jersey as a whole. We provide many opportunities for trips out of school to support learning.
We are also a ‘learning’ school and are always working hard to improve further and to make sure we are the ‘best we can be’ in all areas. We work with other schools in Jersey and beyond to support and challenge our practice. We share our school improvement focuses with parents so they understand what we are working on each year.
We pride ourselves on having an ‘Open Door’ policy. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to come and talk them through with us. It is vital that right from the start we work together in partnership, and support each other, for the benefit of your child.
Mr. John Baudains
